Acquacotta
About This Spot
Set a short stroll away from Florence’s busiest streets, Acquacotta welcomes you into a quietly charming corner of Tuscan tradition. The moment you step inside, there’s a gentle ease in the air — a slower rhythm that invites you to savor time, conversation, and food without rush. This is not a place of theatrics but of warm familiarity, where the well-worn wooden tables and softly lit space hint at stories shared over meals across generations.
Here, the atmosphere carries the inviting spirit of a family-run trattoria, where genuine care and attentive service make you feel like a trusted guest rather than a visitor. The staff’s readiness to guide you through the menu, translating the nuances of Italian dishes with kindness and patience, adds a layer of comfort that enhances the experience.
Acquacotta’s kitchen embraces classic Tuscan flavors with a quiet confidence, turning seasonal ingredients into dishes that feel both rooted and unpretentious. Whether it’s a hearty bowl of ribollita that warms a chilly evening, or a tender T-bone steak paired with roasted potatoes, each plate encourages a moment of centered appreciation. The food reflects the land — honest, satisfying, and thoughtfully prepared — and often paired with carefully chosen local wines that gently nudge the meal towards something memorable without overwhelming.
For those who prefer a lighter touch, the menu gracefully balances simplicity and depth, from freshly made pasta tossed with fragrant herbs to delicate desserts that close the meal with subtle sweetness. Acquacotta feels less like a stop on a tourist’s itinerary and more like a place where locals lean into tradition, welcoming guests to do the same.
In its quiet way, this trattoria is a discovery of comfortable, understated joy — a place to settle in, slow down, and reconnect with the honest pleasures of Tuscan dining.

A rustic Tuscan-style diner that was introduced to us. Lovely authentic service and we heard that it's family run. The waitress will gladly translate the Italian menu for you and she speaks good English! We had the lunchtime special that comprised of 2 plates, a glass of wine and water. This menu is seasonal and changes regularly. We found this overall good value and we did enjoy the food that was cooked to order.

My friend and I discovered Acquacotta by chance, while looking for a place to grab a light bite after a show at Teatro della Pergola. What a pleasant surprise! We had the ribollita, a hearty and delicious Tuscan soup. That, and a glass of wine was the perfect way to warm up on a November night. The restaurant was cute, an inviting atmosphere. The staff was very friendly, answering our questions about the menu and letting us linger over our food. We will be back!

I took the lamb plate with rosemary it has a very earthy and aromatic deep taste, i didn't like it that much. It came with a roasted potatoes side dish included in the price. I took a dessert called " Bavarese con lingue di gatto alla fragola" which was nice but mildly sweet.

We loved this wonderful family establishment, it was our favorite place to visit (3 visits in 7 nights) Ella was so accommodating, and her wine recommendations were terrific. This a an incredible value in Florence and all of the food, while simple, was delicious. We ate almost the entire menu in our three visits and definitely recommend the pumpkin ravioli, the boar ragu, the lemon cake were amazing.

Far from the maddening crowd.... If you want a good, traditional Tuscan meal...head here. Quiet, but well patronised, trattoria just out of the tourist hub. Great service and just good quality food.

Food was pretty good and the wait staff were friendly. This place is a little out of the way from the downtown area. We were charged €6 per person (party of 6) for oil and balsamic vinegar which we are used to being complementary in America. The cashier ended up charging us only €6 total after we mentioned some of us didn’t even have any. This was a nice gesture since we were surprised at the bill being 36 euro higher than expected.
